- Remove excess water using mopping and blotting techniques.
- Wipe away excess water from wood furniture after removing lamps and tabletop items.
- Remove and prop up wet upholstery and cushions.
- Place aluminum foil or wood blocks between furniture legs and wet carpeting.
- Enhance drying by turning on air conditioning in the summer.
- Safeguard wet carpeting by removing colored rugs.
- Transfer art objects to a secure, dry location.
- Collect loose items from the floors.
Things to Avoid After Flooding:
- Avoid leaving wet fabrics in place; hang furs and leather goods.
- Refrain from leaving books, magazines, or other colored items on wet carpet or floors.
